If you are looking for a great fishing destination look no further. I was there from August 7th to the 13th. I rented their 40 hp boat with center console. I caught over 140 Bass (and many other fish). The weather was hot and windy but the fishing was great. I have been coming here for 50 years and the fishing has always been well worth the trip
Just spent a week at the Poplars, what a great week. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Very sufficient for our purposes, fishing. The meals were very good and I don't believe anyone could go away hungry. The portions are huge. The best part was the staff. They were efficient and friendly. No request was too much for them to handle. Becky and Dave were tremendous. While there I had a problem with my boat. They found a marina that could fix it and within six hours my boat was back on the lake. We will definitely be returning to the Poplars!
My 3 adult grandsons & I spent the 2025 3-day Labour Day Weekend at POPLARS RESORT and all thoroughly enjoyed the friendly, joyful, homey atmosphere! Becky & Dave were great hosts and their staff treated us like family! Good quality & quantity of food went beyond expectations! Fishing even more!! We’re going back!!!
We were there a few days ago. Beautiful place. Owner Dave highlighted in the map where to fish and we caught a lot. Super service. Always someone to help you park the boat. Take care of what you caught, fillets and freeze for you. Meals are delicious, 5 stars hotel service especially Donna. Room is clean and they tidy up for you every day. Only no air con. So make sure bring insect repellent. We booked our next trip already!
We went for a day fishing. The package included 2 meals and boat rental. Awesome service and super friendly folks. Meals were great as well. It is a rustic place, but very clean and everything you need for the day is at hand. There is a bait and tackle shop on the main road, just 2 minutes away. No one can ever predict where the fish are, so we only caught some small ones this year, but in previous years, we had Pike and Bass. Some Americans had also caught 4 huge bass and a Pike the day we were there. The interconnected lakes are amazing, and it is a very peaceful and picturesque place to cruise around and fish. You will forget all of your troubles while you are there.
Stayed here in June 2025 for one night with a group of 24 cyclists. The rooms are simple, clean and charming. The rate included three lovely home-cooked meals. The team even packed us a picnic since we were not staying around for the lunch. By far the best thing was the staff. Attentive, thoughtful they made stay so memorable - thank you!!
A+ fishing lodge. My dad has been going for almost 20 years. My first trip was great.. the food was good, and staff were friendly. Lodge is on the water so you can wake up and get on the boat in minutes. We caught a ton of fish and even had the kitchen fry us up a Pike that was caught. I can’t wait to return!
There is no experience like The Poplars. From the moment you check in to the moment you check out, everybody makes you feel welcome. The meals are very good. The location couldn't be better, next to Newboro Lake, which is great fishing. It would be nice to have air conditioning on those hot days, however not too big of a deal.
